A Girl and her Moon
Artist Statement: In this portrait I have my youngest sister holding the moon. When she was really little I would tell her stories of how the moon would always follow her wherever she goes, and that she didn’t have to be scared of things bigger than her. I have a very active imagination and since she was 11 years younger than me, she was a perfect candidate to tell these creative stories too. In this portrait titled, “A Girl and her Moon,'' she is holding that moon. It reminds me that she has grown into her own person and that the moon from our stories are now in her hands.  It’s time for me to listen to her stories now.

Waiting for Peace
Artist Statement:  Grief is something that comes in all shapes and sizes. It’s different for everyone. This shot is my take on the hopeless feeling grief gives some of us. I have a silhouette of a woman at a cemetery waiting by the church doors. The church symbolizes, “peace,” but the church is dark and empty. Leaving us wondering if peace is really waiting on the other side.
